Al Dadario
Al Dadario has been a special education teacher and coach at Avon High School for the past 26 years. As the head girls Cross-Country coach, the assistant indoor track coach and the head girls outdoor track coach, Al has had a hugely successful coaching career at AHS. His girls XC teams have won 4 state championships, have been runner-up for 2 seasons, and placed 2nd at the state open meet in 2012. The team also placed 15th in the New England Championships that same year. He has coached 2 state championships in girl's track and was runner-up in another season. He was awarded the girls' CHSCA XC coach of the year in 2012, the Northeast girl's XC coach of the year in 2017 and was nominated for National coach of the year in 2017. He was inducted into the CHSCA Hall Of Fame in 2017 and was inducted into the Middletown Hall Of Fame in 2012 as a member of the 1971 Xavier state championship football team who went undefeated that season.

Frank Waters
Frank Waters coached girls basketball for twenty one years at Avon High School compiling a nineteen year varsity record of 378 wins and 95 losses. He and his wife Janet have been Avon residents for forty five years and are the parents of a daughter and a son who were both multi-sport athletes at AHS. Frank has been involved in sports his entire life, played football, basketball, and baseball at Wesleyan University, and has also coached Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion baseball here in town. In 2010 he was elected to the Wesleyan Sports Hall of Fame as part of the undefeated 1969 football team. He was named to the ECAC All-East Division II team at the position of defensive back for that season.

John McLaughlin
John McLaughlin is a 1989 graduate of Avon High School and was a member of the football, wrestling and track teams. As a wrestler, John became a two-time state champion and finished third in the New England championships. Now in his 18th year of teaching at Avon High School, John has been coaching wrestling since 1996 and have been the head coach since 1998. John has more than 400 career wins and is ranked No. 11 all time in wins in Connecticut. He has also coached football and track at Avon High.

Maria Mascoli
Maria Mascoli and her husband, Greg, have resided in Avon for 19 years, and their four children are former student athletes at Avon High School. Maria has actively supported AHS Athletics and the Avon community in a variety of volunteer roles, including: Booster Club President & Migli Golf Tournament Chair (2013-2016), President of Friends of Field Hockey (2015-2017), and Founder of the For the Love of the Game Program, which provides opportunities for mixed ability athletes to play with varsity athletes. Maria was instrumental in bringing Indoor Track back to AHS Athletics (2010), and was an active community member driving the "vote yes for turf” initiative. She managed the Avon Little League Challenger Division (2009-2014) and remains active as a volunteer for the annual Robby Brisco Golf Tournament.

Susan Rietano Davey
Susan Rietano Davey and husband Bob have lived in Avon for over 30 years; they raised four children (Tucker, Jackson, Hannah and Luke) here - all recent AHS student-athletes. Among Susan’s many community roles: she was a longtime coach for Avon Soccer Club; sat on the Avon Booster Club board for 9 years and was president for two; and was past-president of the AHS PTO and active member in other PTO’s. For over a decade, Susan has been teen music director at St. Ann’s Church and Vice-President of the Avon Land Trust, under which she founded and still leads Avon’s outdoor learning initiative, The Unplugged Learning Project. As president of the non-profit ACORN, Inc., Susan recently led the Lights on Avon campaign which brought lights to Avon High School's new turf field. A longtime Falcon fan, Susan is co-founder/owner of the global learning and consulting firm, Prepare to Launch, LLC.

Stephen Nyberg
Stephen Nyberg has been an Avon resident for 17 years along with his wife Heather and their three children, all of whom were involved with the Avon High School athletic program. Athletics has had a large influence on Stephen throughout his life, and he continues to seek out opportunities to combine volunteerism with sports. Stephen has served as a Board member for the Avon Booster Club for the last few years, and previously served on the Avon Little League Board. He has also coached or officiated in many of the youth sports programs in Avon, and currently serves as General Manager for the American Legion Post 201 baseball program in Avon.

Terri Ziemnicki
Terri Ziemnicki is a 1981 graduate of Avon High School where she was a 3-sport athlete (field hockey, basketball, and softball). Upon graduating from Ithaca College, Terri was hired by Avon’s first Athletic Director, Bob Summers, to be the junior varsity field hockey coach and after four years at that level, Terri assumed the varsity role that she has held for the past 33 years. In addition to her long tenure with the field hockey program, she held the role of varsity softball coach during the 1990s as well as the head coach for varsity girls lacrosse in the 2000s. With over three decades of coaching, Terri has had the opportunity to develop thousands of student athletes at Avon High School and has been recognized for her significant contributions. Terri was a founding member of the CT Field Hockey Hall of Fame and has served on that Board since its inception in 2000; she was also inducted as a member in 2019. Additionally, Terri also serves on the CT High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame Committee and was inducted as a coach herself in 2013. She was inducted into the New Agenda: Northeast Women’s Hall of Fame in 1998, and currently serves on the CT High School Coaches Association Executive Board as well as the All State Committees for field hockey and girls lacrosse.

Tim Filon
Tim Filon is in his seventh year as Director of Athletics and Student Activities at Avon High School. Prior to becoming the athletic director in the summer of 2015, Tim was employed as a K-12 Wellness teacher for the Avon Public School system. Over the course of his twenty five year career as an educator, he also spent time coaching three different high school sports (Football, Basketball and Track) in Avon, Southington and West Hartford (Conard High).

Gerry deSimas, Jr.
Gerry deSimas, Jr., is an award-winning writer and photographer, who has been covering sports in Connecticut for 40 years. He is publisher and founder of Collinsville Press.com and Connecticut Wrestling Online. He served as sports editor at The Herald in New Britain, The Herald Press Sunday edition, The Register Citizen in Torrington and the Farmington Valley Herald. He is currently the editor of the Connecticut High School Football Record Book and Connecticut High School Wrestling Record Book. Gerry and his wife, Jennifer, has lived in Avon for 22 years and have two daughters.
