Tyler D’Onofrio
Noted by his football coach as “the consummate student athlete and a leader of men”, Tyler D’Onofrio enjoyed an amazing 4 years competing for the Falcons in football, basketball, and baseball. He was named captain for each of these programs and earned a total of 10 varsity letters from Avon High School.
While Tyler found success with every team he was involved with while at AHS, he really stood out on the gridiron, starting all four years and displaying his athleticism and versatility by playing both offense and defense. During his final three years in a Falcon uniform, he was recognized 3 times as an All-Conference performer, and in his senior year he also earned All-State accolades, much of that attributed to his dominance as a wide receiver. Coach Brett Quinion made reference to an amazing statistic from Tyler’s senior season, noting that of the 52 passes that were thrown in Tyler’s direction, they resulted in 51 receptions! The football team advanced to the state semifinals in both 2008 and 2009, and Tyler’s career marks of 89 receptions, 1528 yards, and 16 TDs still stand today in addition to his single game marks for catches (12) and receiving yards (263).
Like the majority of distinguished members Tyler has joined in the Falcon Hall of Fame, he challenged himself year round and competed in multiple sports. On the basketball court, his tenacity and hustle led him to a career total of 689 rebounds, and he celebrated his senior season as captain by earning All-Conference recognition and leading the team the team to an NCCC championship in 2010/11. It was in that same senior season that Tyler was also selected as a captain for the baseball program, and he capped his stellar senior year with a performance that earned him All-Conference recognition, but more importantly resulted in the Falcons securing another league title.
After enjoying an amazing career as a Falcon, Tyler attended Purdue University in Indiana where he graduated in 2015 with his degree, and he now resides in the Boston area.
